the energy debate project
project description
For this project we where put into groups of five, and had to prepare for debates using the CREW format. CREW stands for; Claim, Reasoning, Evidence and Warrent. Each team of five was given five debate questions and within each question was two focus points. In preparation for the debate we first learned about; nuclear energy, fossil fuels, the structure of atoms, half lives, isotopes, power plants, reusable energy and the pros and cons with any energy source. After receiving scattered information about nuclear energy and how it is created, each team was given a week to prepare for the debate tournament. The whole 10th grade dedicated a day to the debate on our energy crisis, my team went up against four teams from other classes.

Like I stated above to properly prepare for the debate my team and I had to follow the C.R.E.W format.

E.vidence
W.arrent
For the actual C.R.E.W document I complete one full debate question and a focus point for another question. Since one of our team members where absent me and another team member took initiative and completed the missing question. Everything stated in my debate was well researched and prepared due to this format.

Project reflection
Through this project I learned how serious are energy crisis is, and there is no perfect or easy solution. There is evident problems with fossil fuels and nuclear energy, and there is no reliability with reusable energy. However, I am very proud in my CREW reports; I completed debate question number two and focus point number two for question number four. I spent a little over 10 hours of research and formatting to get my answers perfect in hopes of swaying the audience. The most difficult part of this project was the time crunch in completing this assignment. If I had to revise any section it would be to evaluate my group members work and research to make sure everything was completed before the debate day.
